After getting acquainted with the systems and quirks of EverQuest Legends, I decided to give instances a try.
You create an instance via the difficulty menu, and once it begins, you are the only player character in the zone. I chose Blackburrow, an early leveling zone that I am fairly familiar with. Because of its location between Qeynos and Everfrost, this is typically a zone well-populated by players that you have to compete with when pulling enemies. So needless to say, having the zone to myself was a somewhat surreal experience.

I essentially stayed on the top level and positioned myself between the Splitpaw Sentry and Tranixx Darkpaw.

I would kill one of them, and then fight the other while waiting on a respawn.

I was mostly interested in fighting Tranixx because they would occasionally drop a pair of shoulderpads that I could equip. Something new in EQL is the ability to merge the same item to create a more powerful version. So as Tranixx would drop these shoulders and then I would merge them to increase the stats.
Instances will no doubt be a fantastic way to solo level, but also to have the chance to explore zones that typically require an ultra-coordinated group. I can’t wait to *really* dig into Legends and run so many instances when the game has its proper launch at the end of the month.
