Shit’s pretty bad.
Trying to be a good person and do the right thing feels naive and futile in the face of the corruption that is spreading through and beyond the country where I live. Like everyone I know, I’m exhausted and don’t really know what to do at this point, but I’m able to find some comfort in recent media.
First up, Andor Season 2. “Star Wars, but good” if you’re nasty. We’ve been discussing the show on this on the Star Wars podcast I cohost. The first season of Andor was a masterpiece, and season 2 continues to take the ideas further, while maintaining an incredible level of craftsmanship.
To me, the show is about choosing your battles, committing to a cause, and then seeing how far you’ll go in its name. A far cry from the binary light side / dark side associated with the franchise, this is a show that is not afraid to let its characters make mistakes, struggle, and suffer.

It’s masterful storytelling that hits extra close to home these days.

In music, punk / metal / post-hardcore band Propagandhi just released their first album in eight years, and it’s absolutely incredible. Between the killer riffs and breakdowns, the lyrics are angry, funny, but also somewhat resigned, coming to terms with the state of the world that any of us could leave at any moment.
Here are some of my favorite excerpts:
From “Rented P.A.”

From “No Longer Young”

From “At Peace”

I am at peace,
